⚠️ Early Access

This product is in early access with a full release planned for August 2025.
Early access means:

  1. Documentation/videos are not available yet. Options have tooltips but there is currently no other information. Documentation and videos will be made available leading up to the 1.0 release and I'll do my best to answer any specific questions as soon as possible.
  2. Included tools are feature complete but subject to minor changes. Feedback is more than welcome at this stage!
  3. More tools will join the product over time. "Panel Cut" and "Surface Insert" are planned for a future update.
  4. An optional add-on for managing the "Boolean Pro" modifiers will be added during early access.

normalMagic 0.1

normalMagic is a collection of tools designed to give you full control of mesh normals. Controlling normals is essential for creating high quality artwork in a variety of situations; this can include everything from realistic hard surfaces and foliage to stylized cell shading and fur.

(All tools will have icons for 1.0 release)

Seamless Surface Blending

Sophisticated performant tools for transferring surface normals, UVs and shrinkwrapping. Automatic masking options reduce the need for manually creating vertex groups.

The projection method "Project Decal" will keep the original normals and flatten the mesh. These normals can then be blended with the underlying surfaces.

Perfect Boolean Normals.

Tired of booleans producing janky normals?

Avoid them completely with "Boolean Pro": a drop-in replacement for Blender's "Boolean" modifier.

Boolean Pro includes a "slice" mode in a single modifier and can mark intersection edges as sharp.

For destructively applied booleans "Repair Boolean Normals" will resolve most normal issues.

Other Key Features:

  1. Smooth/Flatten Normals. Improve shading or achieve stylized effects by smoothing or flattening mesh normals. Mix point and face corner normals for a cheap sub-surface scattering effect.
  2. Bent Normals. Calculate bent normals directly on geometry without the need to bake to a texture.
  3. Weighted Normals. Weight normals by face area, face strength or an arbitrary attribute. Control cutoff of when a face will lose influence over its neighbors.

Compatibility

Blender 4.5+

Free Updates

Once purchased, you'll receive all future updates for free as and when they are released.

Older versions will remain available for download, and LTS versions of Blender will be supported for their entire lifetime.
